Sophia Snow Place has embarked upon a strategic planning process focused on our long-term future and success. As part of this exciting initiative, we held five World Café sessions throughout the summer, engaging key stakeholders in small group conversations about Sophia Snow Place. The groups shared their thoughts on what makes Sophia Snow special, what we should strive to achieve in the future, what challenges we may face, and what role the community might play in helping ensure our success.

I am pleased to share that nearly 80 individuals participated in these conversations including current residents, employees, prospective residents, referral partners and board members! The sessions were informative and energizing, and attendees thoroughly enjoyed sharing their thoughts and ideas about Sophia Snow Place and the community at large.

The major themes that emerged from the sessions included how much our stakeholders appreciate our beautiful grounds and building, positive community culture, and caring staff; stakeholder suggestions on how we can enhance our activities program and our dining options; and ideas for capital projects that will improve the building entrance and common areas.

Our World Café participants also noted the importance of understanding both the needs of our current residents and being prepared for the baby-boomer generation. The participants felt that increasing our community connections and collaborations was very important for our future success. They also remarked that Sophia Snow needs to enhance our communications, update our website and be more active on social media.

The World Café conversations were captured in a detailed report that is now being reviewed by our Board as part of our strategic planning. I look forward to updating everyone on our progress in developing and implementing our plan for the future.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our World Café sessions – your input was invaluable!
