Events: Sophia Snow Celebrates Mardi Gras |
|||||
|
Residents of Sophia Snow Place draped themselves in traditional Mardi Gras beads while listening to the upbeat tunes of jazz, blues and Cajun-inspired rhythms that New Orleans is known for during their famous annual Mardi Gras celebration. Residents participated in a traditional Mardi Gras pancake toss and enjoyed the "baby in the cake" ritual. During this practice, individuals that get a baby in their piece of cake are said to have good luck for a year. Residents Irene Grynkiewicz and Sarah Fiorillo were the two lucky ladies who got a baby in their piece of Mardi Gras cake. According to Resident Service Coordinator, Kerrin Fletcher, Mardi Gras was a success. "We had a great turn out and everyone had a lot of fun," said Fletcher.
