Sophia Snow Celebrates Mardi Gras

Green, purple and gold tinsel streamers decorated the walls of Sophia Snow’s Great Room during the residence's recent Mardi Gras party.

Residents of Sophia Snow Place draped themselves in traditional Mardi Gras beads while listening to the upbeat tunes of jazz, blues and Cajun-inspired rhythms that New Orleans is known for during their famous annual Mardi Gras celebration.

Residents participated in a traditional Mardi Gras pancake toss and enjoyed the "baby in the cake" ritual. During this practice, individuals that get a baby in their piece of cake are said to have good luck for a year. Residents Irene Grynkiewicz and Sarah Fiorillo were the two lucky ladies who got a baby in their piece of Mardi Gras cake.

According to Resident Service Coordinator, Kerrin Fletcher, Mardi Gras was a success. "We had a great turn out and everyone had a lot of fun," said Fletcher.
